Laser cut MDF Bases

Strange wooden shapes are appearing within the boundaries of Midlam.  Circles, squares, rectangles, hexagons of all shapes and sizes, but uncannily with the thickness of only 2mm.

What nefarious purposes could they be intended for? Perhaps the basing of small figurines that seem to be popular in Midlam...
